Autumn is beautiful in Washington state. It was worth taking a very long scenic route to the grocery store. The weather is cool and sunny, sometimes chilly. Everything on the way was so pretty. One of the houses we walked past had a lavender hedge. It smelled so good.
There are a lot of pine trees here and when they drop needles the ground ends up looking like this. So pretty! I don't think I have ever seen mushrooms that looked like these. They look like they have little feathers.
I can't believe the brilliance of color of the leaves. It is all so beautiful. It makes me not mine all the walking I do to get to work. The red trees are right across the street from my apartment but the yellow are at one of the bus stops I wait at for a transfer.
And yes.. I am knitting. This is a hat from left over yarn for my son. It sort of reminds me of the colors of the picture above it. Yellow trees, gray road, shades of brown.

after two cups of coffee....
Every day I need at least two cups of coffee to have any energy to do all the things I need to do here. Everyone seems to drink lots of coffee all day at work too.
This beautiful scene was taken on my way to work walking over the over pass. Washington State is very beautiful.
I love the beautiful colors of autumn. They are actually more brilliant in real life. My phone dulls the colors. I had to walk to a different bus stop yesterday because the bus driver didn't stop. The area I walked to was really pretty.
This cowl is so fun to make and super fast. It looks like a ring of pompoms when you wear it. It's pretty warm too. I just have to tuck in the ends.
Some other projects I finished in the last 10 days. My fair isle hat. I use Lion Brand Amazing for this. It is actually very soft but you have no control as to where the colors are going to end up. I thought the center would be a pretty blue, but blue ended up in the left over ball so I'm not crazy about the color combo... yellow, pink and red... blek
This side came out a little better as far as the colors.
Progress on my crayon shawl. I only work on this on the bus ride to work and in the break room. It's slowly... very slowly growing. (lots of crumbs on the break room table).

Settling in...
Finally blogging on my computer instead of my phone. It took a while between work and moving to get everything set up. This is where I sit and eat now. A lot different than Florida but it is nice and cozy. There are pretty condos across the street with nice land scaping to look at.
Knitting progress.. I'm slowly making progress on my crayon shawl. I work on this on the bus to and from work. I probably do a couple of rows a day right now... but it is growing. Below is a hat that I had to whip up because it got pretty cold pretty fast. For me at least it's cold. I have to wait for the bus in the early mornings and after dark sometimes and it went into 40's which starts to feel bitter when you are just standing there. Any way it is perfect and I have worn it already and it keeps my little head warm. When I finish the crayon shawl, I will have a nice warm matching set.
Another hat for the colder weather. I was hoping to whip this one out in a few days... but it looks like it is going to take me a lot longer than that to finish. Knitting at night seems to cause mistakes. I had to rip out the same 4 rows 3 times...and for the same reason. I missed a stitch somehow and it was just sitting there and I knit over it and the pattern got messed up and that is how I noticed it. So I ripped it out to the dropped stitch and repeated this whole process 2 more times. Sigh. Well now I am being very careful and rechecking my knitting every 20 stitches or so. I'm using Wool Ease and Amazing, both Lion Brand yarns, stuff I had in my stash.
Autumn in this area is really nice. This pretty display is in the entrance at wholefoods. They put a lot of work setting them up and changing them, very often too.
A day off spent painting with the boy.

A new beginning

![]() |
| Finally I am on the last three rows of this cowl. I don't ever remember it taking me so long to knit something so small. Lots of changes lately and finding my way around has left me not a lot of time to knit. We are finally moved into our new apartment with all our meager furnishings set up. Below is a picture of the cozy spot. All my yarn is in the storage boxes in that shelf. ( I like to sit next to it) and of course my new computer that my son set up. It's actually his older one with my hard drive. I left a lot of my stuff in Florida in boxes and have to wait a bit before I can have them mailed here. I miss all my art supplies and spinning wheel and sewing stuff. But they weren't the most important items to ship. I also left a lot of clothing that I could probably use here. It was really hard to know what to bring. |

| My little 60" kitchen.. hehe.. There is so much storage that we have only used the bottom shelves in the upper cabinets. There was quite a bit of cleaning to do, to get all the grime off the wood. It actually looks a different color now. I like to sit there in the morning and eat breakfast and look out the window. There are pretty trees and some fancy condos across the street to look at and the cars coming and going, people walking dogs etc. |

| So of the trees are starting to turn pretty colors. I think it will really feel like autumn here. I haven't experience a real autumn in many years and I'm excited about it. I want to make some pies and get a little pumpkin haha. Below is a picture of my son working hard to get all the furniture together. It took two days .. poor fellow and then there was a mountain of boxes we had to get rid of, but all is done now except for a few little things. I actually have time to blog and knit today. Up until now it has felt like I have been rushing and rushing to work and to the store and cleaning and unpacking and on and on... Now I can start knitting again. (^_^) |

Knitting this week
Here is my project of the week. I couldn't wait to work with my latest handspun yarn. It took me awhile to decide what I wanted to knit with it. I chose a simple crochet pattern because I thought it would show off the color changes.
As promised, here is a better picture of my sweater. Not much better, but better. My progress on Dan's cowl. I haven't really knitted that much since I moved. We are still trying to get situated on an apartment. One that we were trying to get because the location was good, led us on a merry chase and just got rediculous which made us waste a whole week. Hopefully Monday we will secure the other one we were interested in.

New beginnings
I finally finished this sweater. I just under took a big move across the country which is probably why it took me so long. That is also the reason for the bad picture. Im also blogging from my phone.
My sweet little grandson's that I left behind in Florida. I miss them a lot.
My first view of the city. It was a really long trip. It included 2 plane rides, 2 train rides, and 2 bus rides. Then a trip to trader joes for groceries and necessities. I still feel tired. Maybe because of the time change. This must be mega jet lag. I start my new job tomorrow so I'm pretty excited about that. In the mean time I get to start a new project today. on and off the needles!
Knitting my fingers off... I finished the Owlie baby sleep sack and matching hat that will be a gift for a baby due in January. I still have to knit the blanket. I was hoping to finish the blanket before my move but time is speeding by and it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. So I'll have to ship the yarn..
Below is my progress on my Elisa sweater. I'm so close to completing this sweater. I finished one from lace panels yesterday and just have the other one and the sleeves to finish. I'm hoping to finish this before I leave also and have it packed for my trip. If not it will be my project for the plane trip. The more I work on this sweater the more I like it. I especially love the drape and feel of the yarn. I think this will end up being a favorite.
This is a quick project that I'm also hoping to finish up before I leave. Hahaha I'm very ambitious. This is a button up cowl for one of my managers. If I don't get to finish this, it will also be a trip project that I will have to ship later. I hope I finish it!
Yay a finished project! I can now pack this for the colder weather. It fits just right and is nice and cozy. This is the Ladylove Lace sweater from Knitty.com. I still haven't figured out what buttons to use or a closure. A quick trip to Joanns will fix that. I have never made so many sweaters for myself as I have this year. Maybe because I never really had a need to wear them in Florida. So nice that I will be warm and cozy in the Seattly area. (^_^)
