pRoJeCts oF tHE dAy...mAy 31

Just a few more row's left do complete the border of my linen shrug. I have to decide how big I want the ruffle to be. I tried it on and it fits just right and had a nice feel to it even though it hasn't been washed yet. Supposedly it will soften up a lot after a couple of washings.

One corner is finished on the border and I'm just about ready to work on the next corner then down the the second long side.. not too much more to do.. that gives me 2 projects close to completion. yay!!

Which means .. of course I'm planning new ones. I have made a pair of these socks not too long ago and really liked the pattern.. I just didn't care for the yarn I used and wanted to make a pair with nicer yarn. (I really need to stay away from the yarn shops) any way I bought one skein of Louet Gems in the soft champagne color ..100% merino wool.. and it's machine washable and dryable.. This is the sport weight...I need to read the fine print on yarn labels more often. I looked at most of the sock yarns in my stash and all but one are machine washable... they do not say superwash wool though.. but they do say non felting.. I just assumed that the 100% wool sock yarns were not machine washable... well being able to machine wash your hand knit socks is a plus..

Yes... I had a birthday.. and my bf surprised me with this pretty pink Pooka cake. ( NO I'm not 1.. heheh).. he forgot to get the candles and that was the only candle in the house. It's the thought that counts right?!.. any way it was very yummy.. and..

birthday presents from my lovely daughter Brooke. woohoo!! Stefanie Japels fitted knits.. a starfish candy dish ( I think) and dish towels.. Thank you!! <3

tHinGs thAt wErE, aRe Now AnD wiLL bE..

I was thinking again.. ut oh... well this project came in to mind for some reason.. and for some reason I saved it for a very very long time in the state that it is in which is 95% finished. Every thing is there except the needles which I probably needed for a different project and never replaced . Weird right.. well I supposed I planned to finish it at some point.. but that never happened. I was knitting it for my daughter when she was younger.. a lot younger.. it's a child size medium.. my daughter is now 18 with a baby of her own. Omyw .. (oh my word).. well I'm thinking at this point... there is about 1 evening of knitting left.. so I would like to finally finish this project..why you ask.. why bother.. I guess it's the principle.. of finishing what I started.. for some reason was unable to get back to it and finish it. Part of stash cleaning and moving on to new projects I suppose... any way...

Here are my wips.. this is a crochet V stitch shrug. The yarn I'm using is Geneva Euroflax.. I'm doing my part in being green..using 100% linen.. a natural fiber. The yarn is very sting like and a little abrasive on my fingers.. after you wash it a few times it gets very drappy and soft.... but before washing..I can only work on it so long and then my finger gets irritated.. so...

I continue on the border of my diamond shawl.. the first side and the first corner of the border are finished... no problems with abrasive yarn here.. this yarn is so soft, fluffy, silky.. like knitting with fibers made from clouds.. (^_^)

Which brings me to a project I would like do...the Leaf Camisole in the summer issue of VK knit.1 magazine..I have to do a gauge swatch and make sure I can get the gauge with some yarn from my stash. The original was knit with lion brand cotton ease. The yarn I plan on using is called Coton D"Egypte .. it's an old phildar yarn that has been stuffed in the closet for years and years and years.. I've knitted a few things with this yarn recently and it's very soft and has a nice shine to it... and it's green.. 0.0

OOOO no!!! magKNITficent tagged me.. this is what I have to do...

The rules of the game are that I must reveal 7 random facts about myself. I then need to tag 7 others & list their names on my blog. I also have to leave those I tagged a note in their blog comments letting them know they have been tagged & to direct them to read my blog for the rules of the game.

1. I have an obsessive personality..

2. I'm obsessed with knitting and internet gaming.. (my bf said I should add tattoos to this list..)

3. My first ever knitted item was a mangled mess.. at age 8 I knitted an orange garter stitch head band with many holes .

4. At age 16 I taught myself how to crochet and proceed to crochet my mom a queen size granny square afghan .. the colors were garish.(the poor woman still has it)

5. I have small feet .. size 5 and shhhh don't tell anyone.. sometime I buy kids cloths because they fit me better and the adult ones do..

6. My favorite colors are Pink.. white and black... why do I always buy green yarn..

7. I'm not a perfectionist.. really .. I'm not..

Man I don't know 7 people to tag that haven't already been tagged that have blogs.. so I will tag a few..

I tag...

Jody..
Eve..
Laurie..
Brandon.. (snicker.. snicker)
Linda.. ( check out her blog she makes beautiful things)
Lesley

Well 6 is all I could come up with.. >.<

Little by little.. kind of slow progress.. but there IS progress.. I started the border on the diamond shawl yesterday.. this shawl is a bit bigger then the shawl/scarf so I think it's going to take me awhile... I have been working on this exclusively up to this point and I have a few other projects I have put to the side that I'm going to start working on again.. mohair is very beautiful.. just don't make a mistake.. ripping is slow and can be messy... (there has been some ripping going on too..0.0) I was on the last 4 rows and I noticed that there was a hole missing where there was supposed to be a hole... 6 rows down.. so I had to carefully tink back.. but all is fixed and now I'm on the border.. yay

These are the current issues of spring and summer magazines I picked up in the last couple of weeks. There are a few projects in each i would like to make...in the near future..(^_^)
