WIP update

As you can see on the sock that is not complete, I ran out of yarn way before the toe. I counted all the rows and had the same amount of stitches on the needles for each sock so not sure what happened. I decided to complete the last strip with a different yarn with similar colors..( I looked online for another ball of the same yarn but I really do not want to spend another $10 plus shipping for a few inches of yarn) So there will be a little ugly spot on the front foot of the second sock. >.<.
Anyway I'm now up to the toe... FINALLY.. and hope to finish this tonight or tomorrow. Getting ready for the wedding was taking up a lot of my free time the last 2 weeks. Now that the wedding is over it's time to start making stuff for a baby shower next month for a co-worker. I plan to make a simple blanket in the colors that she picked out for her nursery and either some bibs or socks.. which ever I have time for. The baby will be born in May and in Florida that means it will already be hot.. to hot for sweaters and such.

I hope that the next time I post these socks will be complete!!

almost there...

On the home stretch of this sock now. I just have to finish this last strip and the toe... almost there..
Tomorrow I'm going to the BF's daughters wedding and for reasons beyond my control I had to run around last minute and get a dress, shoes, update makeup, and accessories. I'm very petite so finding stuff in my size is not easy. I ended up with a black dress, something I didn't want to wear to a wedding but that was all I could find in my size last minute. I am trying to lighten up the look with the shoes and accessories. I was trying to find accessories in the pretty pink color that is on the shoe which I was able to do.  Working in a shoe store is a plus even thought there are not many shoes in my size. This beautiful shoe actually fits me and I love platforms. I really love the colors also. So even though I'm not happy with the dress I love the shoes. Off to work now and then picking up some last minute things then off to the wedding early tomorrow. Seems like its going to be an all day affair.

This week..

This year I'm focusing on eating more veggies so I have been juicing everyday if I can. I bought some Super Green defense powder for a little added boost. Not sure how much nutritional value veggies really have these days so giving them an extra boost with a little of this powder. I feel good after drinking the juice. I'm not sure if it is a mental thing or not. But feeling good is a start.
As you can see... I neglected this sock for a few weeks...and have picked it up again 3 days ago. I now have 2 more strips left to knit and I'm trying to finish these pretty socks as soon as my little fingers can knit.
Next week we are going to a wedding. I was on the last drop of my foundation so good time to up date some makeup. A few years back I worked at Victoria's secret and still have some of the make up. Time to clean out and buy new cosmetics. I also have been trying to find cosmetics on the low end of toxicity. There is actually a web site you can go to. I use organic facial wash and cream hoping that will balance out what chemicals the make up has in it.. Just hoping anyway. BTW if you apply eyeliner you must already know about the Sonia Kashuk eyeliner brush. It's awesome and give a perfect line every time. This is the first time I use Urban Decay makeup and really liked the light feel and color match when I tried it in the store. Today I test it out at work. I think I mentioned before that the store I work in is pretty warm and not a day goes by that I don't sweat in there. Hopefully this make up will endure! I just love the NYX soft matte lip cream..you apply it once and it lasts all day at work and I love the soft natural colors. Also trying out Physicians formula eye shadows as they had a good rating and their correctors and cover up. As you can see I'm going for the natural pallet. I still need to get 2 more items and will pick them up some time this week.
I leave you with more Sunday music to knit by..

in my juice...

I always hear that the American diet does not include enough veggies. So as of the new year the family has been adding veggie juice to our diets. These are the veggies that I have been juicing daily if I can. Sometimes I add fresh organic ginger to this or tomatoes. Today I added an apple. I always feel really good after I drink this..I think it's more of a mental thing.. but it gives me a healthy attitude I suppose. I only use organically grown veggies btw. mmmm
I am still playing around with felt. This flower was very fast and easy to make. I used 3 shades of blue. I was thinking of making a pin or a necklace out of them. They would make a really fast cute last minute gift I'm thinking.

Here is a finished picture of my reading in bed shrug. I am really pleased with the outcome and it only took me 3 days from start to finish. Living in Florida makes this shrug worth making over and over in different colors. It's perfect over sleeveless tops for work.
OK... The month of February seems to be the month of mishaps for me. At the end of the month we are going to a wedding and I wanted to wait to dye my hair. I actually want to stop dying my hair but that will have to be another time. To make a long story short.. this is now the second time that I dyed my hair and I used Loreal sublime Mousse. The idea is good and I think it would work really well if you have short hair, but on longer hair it is very hard to get even coverage as the mousse is so light and airy. I actually made a bigger mess than I usually do. The other issue I had was.. the color on the box is not what you get at all. I now have almost black hair.. which is rather scary to look at.. sigh. Now I will have to live with it. Hopefully it will fade out a little. I really thought this color would be much lighter than a black. The name of it is Iced brown.. hummm. (Editing this.. even though the color is close to black, my hair is super shiny.. almost as shiny as when I was a child. So there is a plus to this story and if it wasn't for the color the product result is beautiful)  This is just one of my many mishaps ... that I don't feel like repeating to even myself..!!

Playing with felt

Not much to say about this. I was looking on pinterest and saw these pretty felt flowers and wanted to make some. I made one so far as they are pretty labor intensive. I plan to make some other types in the next few days.

what have I been doing??

Another beautiful winter sunset. We are having a very warm and pleasant winter this year in Florida. The kind of winter that you like to spend outside for a change. I hear the northern states are also having a warmer than normal winter. The warmer weather has effected what I want to knit this year. I had some nice little sweaters on my list for winter knitting but seem to have gravitated towards knitting with cotton. Below is a picture of the Reading In Bed shrug I started a few days ago. I whipped the body up on the knitting machine in an afternoon and removed it from the knitting machine to hand knit the ribbing. I added a little picot bind off that just adds the right touch. I found this tutorial online. I have used this bind off before but didn't remember how to do it. It's pretty fun to do. What would I do without youtube. You should try it. Any way this is knit with a cotton that someone gave me a few years back and I have been saving for just the right project. The cotton has a pearlised finished and a nice drape. Perfect for this shrug and Florida weather. I'm loving this shrug.. perfect fit.. perfect weight.
Some other things I have been doing... holding this little fellow on my lap...and baby sitting  the boys.
Trying out some new and simple breakfasts. Found this one on pinterest.com.

Last of all .. this poor little sock has been neglected. I worked a little on the heal at my knitting meeting and then got side tracked on the shrug. I think we are going for a car ride today and of course I always bring knitting with me. I hope to finish the heal and start on the front strips.
